IT Conference Trade ShowsEvery year, IT professionals, industry experts, and partners plan to attend various IT events with the hopes of gaining additional training, learning about upcoming product offerings, and keeping up with the latest industry trends. With 2017 coming to a close, we decided to take a look back at our favorite IT events and trade show moments.

Dell EMC World: Digital Transformation, Integration, & New Product Offerings

The overall theme of Dell EMC World 2017 was “Realize Your Digital Future”, which speaks to a larger trend throughout the IT industry as a whole. Dell EMC World drove this theme home by introducing updates to their converged and hyper-converged portfolio designed to help businesses transform their data center processes. When it comes to other product announcements, Flash is still king for Dell EMC. The data storage giant introduced new All-flash and hybrid configurations to the VMAX, Isilon, and Unity product lines.

A constant conversation around Dell Technologies has been how all of its branches would integrate and interact with one another post EMC acquisition. We’re finally getting some of those answers. One of the biggest product announcements out of Dell EMC World 2017 has been the 14th generation of PowerEdge servers. This new generation of servers can help Dell EMC users handle increased workloads and optimize their data centers, but the servers speak to something larger happening within Dell Technologies. The product announcement highlights the integration efforts taken by Dell EMC to truly unify and move forward as one.

VMworld: Partnerships, New Products, Data Protection & Security

VMworld kicked off earlier this week with a slew of announcements about VMware’s direction and positioning going forward. It’s clear VMware sees itself as the glue in hybrid cloud deployments. Which is why it made sense when VMware announced a partnership with Amazon AWS back in 2016. The conference came with a general availability announcement of VMware on AWS. But that wasn’t the only partnership at VMworld 2017. VMware will also team up with HPE to tackle the hybrid cloud market.

Data protection and security have always been top priorities when it comes to managing, connecting, and securing VMware environments. VMware used the conference to show their plans on disrupting the current data protection landscape. With a whole session track dedicated to security, VMworld focused on showing how VMware can be leveraged to move, manage, and automate data without sacrificing protection.
