Reliant at Dell EMC World 2017Yet another year of Dell EMC World has come to a close. This year over 12,000 IT professionals, partners, and product experts gathered in Las Vegas to preview upcoming products and learn what the future holds for Dell EMC. The overall theme of Dell EMC World 2017 was “Realize Your Digital Future”, but this year was particularly interesting because it was the first time all of Dell Technologies was in one place since Dell completed its acquisition of EMC in 2016. So, what were some of our biggest takeaways from Dell EMC World 2017?

Digital Transformation

This year’s theme of realizing your digital future speaks to a larger trend throughout the IT industry as a whole. Companies are continuously having to adapt to changes within their data centers. Realizing that succeeding in IT means understanding the only constant is change will help IT departments achieve their goals. Dell EMC World drove this idea home by introducing updates to their converged and hyper-converged portfolio designed to help businesses transform their data center processes.

New Product Offerings

Along with their new converged and hyper converged portfolio, Dell EMC announced a slew of new data storage products. 2016 was deemed the year of All-Flash, and it still proves to be true for 2017. Dell EMC users can look forward to new All-Flash offerings like the VMAX 950F and four new models of the midrange Unity line. But flash isn’t the only place Dell EMC plans on expanding. The storage branch of Dell Technologies has also made leaps in scale-out NAS with archive, All-Flash, and hybrid configurations for the Isilon family. These new product offerings will likely be vehicles for business’ digital transformation.

Dell EMC Integration

A constant conversation around Dell Technologies has been how all of its branches would integrate and interact with one another post EMC acquisition. We’re finally getting some of those answers. One of the biggest product announcements out of Dell EMC World 2017 has been the 14th generation of PowerEdge servers. This new generation of servers can help Dell EMC users handle increased workloads and optimize their data centers, but the servers speak to something larger happening within Dell Technologies. The product announcement highlights the integration efforts taken by Dell EMC to truly unify and move forward as one.
