Company Culture - Core Values
#1 Wow 'Em with Service!
Wow! Cool! Awesome! These are the words we want our customers to say when they work with our team. These words convey excitement and joy. They say, “You just made my day better.” Creating this kind of experience is the reason we're here.
Service sets us apart – whether we are expediting a shipment across the country or quickly configuring a storage system to handle a new project for a customer.
We are always searching for and testing new ideas to improve customer service. We invest time and encourage each team member to think about new ways to improve the customer experience.
Empowering you empowers our company. So get thinking!
#2 Embrace and drive change
The riskiest strategy – in business and in life – is doing nothing. The most successful people and companies always question the status quo.
You are constantly growing–getting better at your job and realizing new strengths and interests. Reliant wants to grow with you.
Change is exciting. As a company we thrive on change. We constantly look for new ways to stay ahead of the competition and better service our customers. Today's marketplace demands change. By embracing it we're prepared for the future and ready for the next opportunity.
#3 Foster a team with a positive winning spirit
Collaboration, Winning, Momentum. A championship team goes so much farther than one man alone. When was the last time one man went to the moon or won a Super Bowl? Never! If the dream only takes one person, then the dream is not big enough.
We are a winning team. And we work using maximum collaborative momentum . We thrive when we share ideas and achieve as a unit–sharpening and challenging one another along the way.
#4 Celebrate and have fun
A stressful, stale environment will steal your creative energy. We all work better when we have fun along the way.
Whether tapping a keg to celebrate a big win or throwing the football on a sunny day, fun and humor help us keep it real. And keeping it real lets us be comfortable in our own skin helping us to thrive as a team.
We not only celebrate our wins, we also celebrate each other's individuality. We want you to share your unique flavor with your coworkers, because when different personalities interact we produce great ideas.
#5 Pursue growth and learning
People want and need to grow. It's a key element to continued fulfillment, and key indicator of people who are striving to be their best. At Reliant we recognize this need, and we want to help you grow in your career and in life.
But growth can be a challenge, and can make you feel like you're wading into new territory. That's a good thing!
Whether we recommend a book from our in-house library or ask you to present to your colleagues on a topic we can all learn from, it's because we want to help you achieve your goals.
At Reliant we embrace personal growth because it benefits you, the company and our customers. We are always looking for fresh thinkers who will stretch us and challenge us. Iron sharpens iron. Everyone knows something we can learn from, and by listening to each other we get better and better.
#6 Do more with less
Often people think doing more with less is all about cutting costs...
But it's really about efficiency. At Reliant, we seek out the most efficient and effective ways to help our customers, reach our goals and make an impact. We leverage technology, reduce layers of approvals and management and empower people to get more done in less time.
As we take our company to the next level, we want to work more and more effectively. We will always invest in people, new ideas and technology that drive efficiency, because we have found that a “do more with less” attitude makes us a more agile company.
#7 Think/Plan/Act
We all think, but how intentional are we in our thinking?
It's easy to get caught up in the present, spending the whole day deflecting minor challenge after minor challenge. We never have time to take a breath and consider the big picture, unless we make time.
At Reliant we believe it's important to ask the fundamental questions in our hearts and minds. That's why we empower each team member to set aside time each day for active thinking. Sit down and journal about an opportunity, challenge or goal that you face.
Then, come up with an action plan to address the question or challenge you encountered. Be courageous; this is your opportunity to take a risk or brave the unknown.
Finally, act. Carry out the plan you established and get excited to see real change.
The think/plan/act discipline is one way that we practice what we preach. It's a practical method to bring about change and convert our ideas into realities.
At Reliant we look for and value people who think in the long-term and act in the short term–people who make the right sacrifices and take the right risks now, in order to reach objectives in the future.
#8 Build positive relationships with clear, open communication
We believe that clear, open communication is the best way to create positive relationships.
That sometimes requires having a tough conversation. If you fear confrontation, you're not alone. But we risk far more when we fail to tackle the issue head on. Remember–the greatest risk is in doing nothing. Meetings at Reliant will sometimes get heated; we like it that way. You are here in part because you are passionate, convicted and confident, and we want to hear your opinions.
Our communication is built on mutual respect, trust, and sharing of information. We won't always agree, and that's okay, because our value as a company lies in a variety of perspectives that communicate openly and strengthen one another.
#9 Be the best you can be.
John Wooden, the legendary basketball coach of UCLA who led his team to over 10 NCAA championships, often challenged his players with a simple maxim: “Be the best you can be.”
No one at Reliant wants to be mediocre. We should all strive to be exceptional. We believe that each of us is a diamond in the rough. With attention, polish and hard work, we can reach unbelievable levels of success.
At Reliant we strive to be our personal best each and every day, and we want more people on our team with this kind of mindset. It's inspiring, and rubs off as a “WOW!” to our customers, vendors, employees, partners and friends – and that's what it's all about.
